Monarchs Sign Milam To One-Year Deal

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings, on Wednesday agreed to terms on one-year contracts with defenseman Troy Milam, forward Jeff Miles and center Eric Fortier. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. Milam, 24, appeared in seven games with the Monarchs last season, recording one point (1-0=1) and zero penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 188-pound native of Lake Orion, Michigan, also appeared in 13 games with the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), recording two points (0-2=2) and 10 penalty minutes. In addition, he spent the majority of the 2003-04 season with the Gwinnett Gladiators of the ECHL, recording 33 points (6-27=33) and 44 penalty minutes. In 155 games over four years at Ferris State University (1999-2003), Milam recorded 79 points (21-58=79) and 217 penalty minutes.

Miles, 23, appeared in four games with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) last season, recording zero points and two penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 188-pound native of Pickering, Ontario, spent four years at the University of Vermont (2000-04) prior to his professional debut with the Admirals, recording a total of 127 points (45-82=127) and 94 penalty minutes in 132 games.

Fortier, 23, appeared in 71 games with the Greensboro Generals of the ECHL last season, recording 62 points (25-37=62) and 52 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound native of Princeville, Quebec, appeared in 72 games with the Jackson Bandits of the ECHL during the 2002-03 season, recording 37 points (19-18=37) and 50 penalty minutes.

The NHL's future stars will converge on Manchester on February 13-14, 2005, as the Manchester Monarchs host the 2005 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
