
Anaheim signs Tim Brent to three-year entry level contract

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim signed center Tim Brent to a three-year entry level contract on Wednesday.
Brent, 20, had 26 goals and 41 assists with 105 penalty minutes in 53 games with Toronto-St. Michael's of the Ontario Hockey League last season. The 6-foot-0, 188-pounder added four goals and 13 assists with 24 penalty minutes in 18 playoff games. He also earned a silver medal at the World Junior Championships playing for Team Canada, recording one goal and two assists in six games as one of the team's alternate captains.
Brent completed his four-year junior career with Toronto-St. Michael's with 78 goals and 142 assists in 238 games. He also added 20 goals and 50 assists in the postseason, setting new club records for career goals and assists by a Toronto-St. Michael's player.
The Cambridge, Ontario native was drafted by Anaheim in the third round (75th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally drafted by Anaheim in the second round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft (37th overall), but was unable to agree to terms on a contract by June 1, 2004 and re-entered the draft.
Brent will join Anaheim's other top prospects at the NHL club's second annual rookie camp September 9-13 at Disney Ice in Anaheim. He is expected to begin his professional career this season with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks of the American Hockey League.
