Monarchs Sign Kidd

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, signed defenseman Josh Kidd to a one-year contract, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Kidd, 19, appeared in nine games with the Monarchs during the 2007-08 season and collected one goal and three assists for four points and a plus/minus rating of plus-9. He played the last four season with the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League and collected 50 points (18-32=50) and 229 penalty minutes in 232 games. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound native of Sundridge, Ontario, was named the Otters Best Defenseman at the 2007 Otters Summer Awards Banquet. Kidd was selected by the Kings in the seventh-round (184th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

The Monarchs open their eighth season on the road against the Portland Pirates at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday, October 11 at 7 p.m. followed by a contest with the Lowell Devils at the Tsongas Arena on Friday, October 17 at 7 p.m. before they return to the Verizon Wireless Arena for the home opener against the Devils on Saturday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGAM 900/1250 AM and at www.manchestermonarchs.com.
