Monarchs Make Roster Moves

MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, added center Jordan Weal who was reassigned from the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League and will add left wing Andy Andreoff this Wednesday after being reassigned from the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. The Monarchs have also assigned right wing J.D. Watt to the ECHL's Ontario Reign, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
Weal, 19, recently wrapped up his fifth season playing for the Pats. Weal led the Pats for the second consecutive season in goals (41), assists (75) and points (116). Weal's 116 points also finished the season tied for fourth place in the WHL scoring race. The 5-foot-10, 171-pound center tallied career-highs in goals with 43 and games played with 72 during the 2010-11 season. Weal served as alternate captain of the Pats for the last two seasons. A native of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Weal finished his Pats career ranked fourth on the franchise's all-time scoring list with 385 points (135-250385). Weal notched his first professional point, an assist on April 6, 2011, during a seven game stint with the Monarchs at the end of the 2010-11 season. Originally selected by the Kings in the third-round (70th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Weal will wear No. 19 for the Monarchs.
Andreoff, 20, recorded 22 goals and 36 assists for 58 points in 57 games for the Generals this season. A native of Pickering, Ontario, Andreoff tallied career-highs in goals (33), assists (42), points (75) and penalty minutes (109) during the 2010-11 season. The 6-foot-1, 201-pound left wing has tallied 81 goals and 126 assists for 207 points in 281 games for the Generals from 2007-2012. Originally drafted by the Kings in the third-round (80th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Andreoff will wear No. 12 for the Monarchs.
In three stints with the Monarchs this season, Watt recorded three points (2-13) and 27 penalty minutes in 19 games. The 6-foot-2, 196-pound native of Cremona, Alberta made his debut with the Monarchs on Wednesday, December 14 which also marked his 150th American Hockey League game. Watt, 24, has tallied four goals and 10 assists for 14 points and logged 78 penalty minutes in 30 games for the Reign this season. During the 2009-10 season, the right wing registered four points (1-34), 74 penalty minutes and an AHL career-best plus-7 ratio in 27 games with the Abbotsford Heat. In 168 career AHL games with the Quad City Flames, San Antonio Rampage, the Heat and the Monarchs, Watt has recorded 24 points (12-1224) and 526 penalty minutes.
