IceHogs Sign Eric Baier to a PTO

Rockford, Ill.-Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Tuesday that the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League have signed defenseman Eric Baier to a PTO.

Baier, 24, recently completed his first full season in the ECHL with the Trenton Titans. During his rookie campaign, Baier totaled 4g-13a-17pts with the Titans. In addition, the North Kingstown, R.I. native skated in 13 games with the AHL's Albany Devils.

Following a four-year collegiate career at Providence College, Baier broke into the pro game with the Reading Royals (ECHL) in 2010-11, playing in six tilts. He also appeared in three contests with the AHL's Portland Pirates, marking an assist.

At Providence College, the 6-2, 210lb defenseman played in 127 games and accumulated 9g-23a-32pts with the Friars. In 2009-10, Baier was named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team.

Next Home Game: Tuesday, April 10 vs. Charlotte Checkers. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. It's the last Taco Bell Dollar Day at the BMO Harris Bank Center as the IceHogs welcome the Checkers. Fans can get hot dogs, beers, sodas and companion tickets for just one dollar a piece.
