Abbotsford Heat News Release

Abbotsford, BC - The Abbotsford Heat continue their pursuit of a home ice playoff position tonight, opening a two-game set with the Rochester Americans (Buffalo Sabres) at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. The mid-week tilts will close out a six-game home stand that has seen the Heat collect five of a possible eight points through four contests.

The Heat currently occupy fourth spot in the Western Conference, leading a pack of seven teams vying for one of the final five playoff spots. The Heat sit just four points ahead of the 10th place Rochester Americans who are just two points back of the final playoff spot, with at least a game in hand on five of the six teams directly above them in the standings.

In two prior meetings this season the Americans earned three of a possible four points, blanking the Heat 3-0 on Feb 2nd, before the Heat won a 3-2 contest in overtime in a game that saw Clay Wilson - a former Rochester American - factor in on all the goals scored by the Heat. Wilson was also named the first star of the Heat's most recent action, Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Chicago Wolves, and sits second in AHL goal scoring amongst defenders with 15 tallies.

Tonight and tomorrow's games begins at 7:00 and can be heard be heard on Country 107.1 beginning with the 6:30 pre-game show. Broadcasts are also available on Country 107.1's website, theAHL.com, and on the Rogers Radio App for your wireless device.
