Hamilton, ON - The Manchester Monarchs defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-2 in front of 3,042 fans at Copps Coliseum on Wednesday night. Manchester's power play was clicking as the Monarchs scored on two of the four chances they had in the game while the Bulldogs were unable to capitalize on five power play chances.

The Monarchs opened the scoring with a power-play marker at 1:34 of the first frame. Matt Moulson skated across the crease with the puck before snapping a shot over the left shoulder of Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis. Justin Azevedo and Teddy Purcell also earned assists on the play.

Purcell added the Monarchs' second goal of the night at 6:26 of the second period. Gabe Gauthier sent a pass to Purcell who faked a shot before switching the puck to his backhand and lifting the puck over Denis.

The Bulldogs scored two quick goals in the middle frame to tie the game 2-2. Ben Maxwell responded for the Bulldogs at 8:45 when he skated over the blue line and wired a shot that beat Manchester starting goaltender Jonathan Bernier. Brock Trotter added the ‘Dogs second goal at 9:09. Trotter faked out Bernier with a shot before sliding the puck underneath the sprawling goaltender.

Manchester regained their lead at 11:25 of the second stanza with a power-play goal. Trevor Lewis fed a pass to Viatcheslav Voynov who was waiting at the top right circle. Voynov blasted a shot that made its way through traffic in front of the net to sail past Denis.

Scott Parse scored his first goal of the season at 11:33 of the final frame to give the Monarchs a 4-2 lead. David Meckler sent a cross-crease pass that Parse was able to bang past Denis and into the top of the net to seal the win for Manchester.
