Amerks Host Marlies Tonight

Tonight, the Rochester Americans entertain the Toronto Marlies with a Wednesday evening matchup at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:05 p.m. North Division contest will be the second of eight scheduled meetings between the two teams this season and can be heard live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live.

Promotions: The game falls on a clevermethod Business Persons' Special, where fans can turn in their business cards at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office and receive any 100-premium seat for just $10.00. Offer is valid for all Amerks home games Monday through Thursday. Contact the Amerks Office at (585) 454-5335 for more information. It's also a RARES Discount night. All RARES members can also bring their RARES ID card or business card to the box office to get a $22.25 ticket for $10.00. Lastly, fans have a chance to take home a Thanksgiving turkey by participating in Turkey Bowling during the first intermission. Contestants will bowl a turkey from center ice in an attempt to knock over inflatable pins. Each contestant will win a turkey for their participation.

Head-to-Head: The Amerks look for their first win of the season against the Marlies. Rochester dropped a 5-2 decision in the previous meeting with Toronto back on Halloween night to fall to 0-1-0-0 on the season and 10-17-0 all-time against the Toronto Maple Leafs' affiliate.

Amerks Notes: Rochester (2-13-0-1, five points) enters the contest after suffering back-to-back road losses to the Hamilton Bulldogs at Copps Coliseum as part of a two-game set. The Amerks earned their only point of the weekend in 3-2 shootout loss Friday night to the defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves. Second-year forward Kenndal McArdle currently paces Rochester's offense with nine points (3+6) and is one of six Amerks to appear in all 16 games thus far. Rookie right wing Michael Duco leads the team with five goals and 83 PIM. His 83 PIM ranks him third among American Hockey League leaders. Rookie defenseman Jason Garrison presently leads the assist count with seven on the season, while his eight points places him atop among team defenseman. Goaltender David Shantz, who was recently reassigned to Rochester, made his season debut for the Amerks this past Sunday, making 30 saves on 34 shots.

Player Moves: The Florida Panthers reassigned right wing Brady Calla to the Kamloops Blazers of the Western Hockey League. The 20-year-old Kelowna, British Columbia, native registered an assist in eight games with the Amerks this season.

Marlies Notes: Toronto (4-7-0-2, 10 points), in the midst of a five-game road trip, comes into tonight's matchup currently on the heels of a five-game losing streak, with their most recent loss coming in 4-2 setback to the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre on November 15th. Toronto's last win was against Rochester dating back to October 31st. Marlies' center Kris Newbury has a team-high eight assists and 12 points, while his plus-one rating is also a team best. Andre Deveaux has found the back of net six times this season for the team lead. Third-year netminder Justin Pogge has played in 11 of the Marlies' 13 contests this season, recording a .890 save percentage and a 3.00 goals-against average. Toronto currently holds a sixth place standing in the AHL's North Division, five points ahead of Rochester.

Next Game: Rochester will remain at home to face the Manchester Monarchs on Friday, November 21st at The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. contest will be the only visit from the Monarchs this season and will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and AHL Live. The game falls on Wendy's Night.
