PLAYOFF PICTURE

The Monarchs (73 pts.) enter tonight's game with the Thunder (68 pts.) tied for the top spot in the North Division with the Brampton Beast. By virtue of having more wins, the Beast hold the tie-breakers and currently hold the #1 seed in the North. The Reading Royals (72 pts.) are tucked in 3rd place for the time being.

If the Kelly Cup Playoffs began today, it would be the Beast and Thunder in one North Division Semifinal and the Monarchs and Beast in the other.

DON'T TAKE PENALTIES

Adirondack's power-play unit enters the weekend third in the ECHL, ticking at a 22.9% success rate. The Thunder have had no trouble scoring on the Monarchs penalty kill that sits 11th in the league with an 83.3 percent kill rate. On the season, Adirondack has scored on 34.6% of their power-play chances against Manchester, converting on a staggering 12-of-24 chances in the past five head-to-head matchups.

CAN YOU OUT-SHOOT THEM?

The Thunder allow a league low 27.04 shots against per game and have only been outshot by their opponents 13 times this season. In those 13 games, Adirondack has won only six of them. Manchester averages 31.79 shots per game and is 15-6-2-2 in games when out-shooting their opponent, but has only averaged 25.83 shots in their meeting with Adirondack this season.

THE OTHER SIDE OF SPECIAL (TEAMS)

Although Adirondack dominates on the power play, their penalty kill numbers are a different story. The Thunder rank 25th in the league, killing 79% of their penalties and are only better than the Orlando Solar Bears (76.9%) and the Wheeling Nailers (75%). Manchester's power play ranks 6th in the league, scoring on 22.3% of their power plays. At home, Manchester has the second-best power-play unit, with a 26.3% success rate at SNHU Arena this season.

WHO WILL SWITCH THINGS UP?

In their last ten games, Manchester is 2-5-3-0 and Adirondack is 3-4-2-1. The Monarchs have started to turn things around with a three-point weekend against Reading last week, but Adirondack is 0-4-0-0 in their last four games, including being shut-out twice last week against Brampton and Cincinnati. The Thunder have scored only five goals in the last four games.
