ROYALS PRE-GAME NOTES

-

Tonight, the Royals take on the Brampton Beast in the back-end of a two game set, which began with a 7-6 overtime loss for the Royals to the Beast here at Powerade Centre last night. o

Reading and Brampton will face each other one more time in the 2016-17 regular season-on Saturday, April 1, at Santander Arena in Reading, PA.

-

Last night's matchup was the tenth game in the respective team histories between Reading and Brampton since the Beast joined the ECHL in 2014. It marked the sixth time in those ten games that the two organizations played to a tie-and all six of those games have been resolved in overtime with the Beast winning five of them. o

Last night's 7-6 OTL for the Royals marked the sixth time that Reading has played at Powerade Centre and four of those games ended in overtime-with Reading losing three of them. o

Historically, the Royals now have a record of 4-1-5-0 against the Beast; and Reading has gone 3-0-3-0 here in Brampton.

-

The overtime win for the Beast served to catapult Brampton into a tie (with the Manchester Monarchs) for first place in the North Division of the ECHL's Eastern Conference with 73 points through 58 games.

o

Despite earning a point in last night's OTL, the Royals, who are unbeaten in the team's last three games (2-0-1-0), dropped to third place in the North with a record of 34-21-2-2=72 through fifty-nine games played.

-

Last night's game marked the fifth consecutive game for Reading that has been decided by just one goal. The Royals have gone 3-1-1-0 in those games, and the team has compiled an overall record of 13-9-2-2 in the twenty-six one-goal decisions played this season.

-

The Beast scored first in last night's game and built the first of what would be two separate three goal leads when they ran off three in a row in a span of 4:38 within the first 8:32 of the game. Brampton also lead by three at 4-1 18:12 into the first period before Reading was able to mount a comeback effort, battling back to tie at 5-5 with 5.6 seconds left in the second period and at 6-6 5:18 into the third period. o

Although technically not a "come-from-behind win" for the Royals, last night's game marked the first time this year that Reading has been able to come back from a three-goal deficit to pick up at least a point in the standings.

-

Last night's game marked the eighth time this year that the Royals have played in a game that has ended regulation time in a tie, which includes two of the last three played. o

Overall, Reading is 4-4 in games that have gone beyond regulation time this season. The team has gone 2- 0 on home ice; and 2-4 on the road in those "tie" games. o

Five of the eight 'ties' this season for Reading have ended in overtime with the Royals compiling a record of 3-2 in OT games this season. (The team's other OTL was back on November 19 in Manchester, 4-3). o

Historically, in the sixteen year history of the team, Reading has played 210 games (out of 1139 regular season games) that have ended regulation in a tie (18.4%). Eighty-seven of those games have ended in OT, with the Royals going 41-46 historically in overtime (20-18 at home; and 21-28 on the road).

-

Last night marked the eleventh time this year that Reading has scored six or more goals (9-1-1-0), while it marked the fifth time that the team has given up six or more (0-4-1-0). o

The seven goals scored by the Beast last night tied the season high against the Royals, who have given up seven three times-most recently in a 7-6 regulation loss to the Atlanta Gladiators back on November 13 at Santander Arena in Reading.

-

Reading's power play was blanked in three chances with the man advantage last night, marking the third consecutive game (and sixth time in the last eight played) and thirty-second overall time this year that the PP has been held off the board (17-13-2-0). o

The Royals PP has scored just one PPG in the last nineteen chances with the man advantage (over the previous five games) (5.2%); and has gone 5 for 54 over the last fourteen games (9.3%).

-

Brampton's power play touched the Royals up for a power play goal on their only chance with the man advantage last night. That is the first time this season that a team has been "perfect" on the PP against Reading. o

The Royals' PK has been touched up for a PPGA in the last two consecutive games and have given up six power play goals against in the last twenty-two chances for the opposition on the power play over the last seven games (72.7%).

-

Eleven of the sixteen skaters for Reading picked up at least a point in last night's game with three players registering multi-point performances: Matt Willows (2g-1a), Olivier Labelle (2g-1a), and Ryan Penny (1g-1a).

-

Matt Willows (2g-1a), who has nine points in his last seven games (3g-6a), recorded his seventh multi-point game of the year last night. It was the second time that Willows has registered three or more points for the Royals.

Willows has 34 points (15g-19a) in thirty-four games with the Royals this year.

-

Olivier Labelle (2g-1a), who led the team by playing plus-4 (+4) last night, recorded his tenth multi-point game of the season in the 7-6 OTL. It was the fifth time this year that he has scored two goals in a game for the team. o

In 281 career games with the Royals, Labelle has scored an all-time career team leading 122 goals with Reading (122g-123a$5pts).

-

Ryan Penny (1g-1a), who has eight goals in his last eleven games, stretched his personal point streak to seven straight (6g-2a) with his tenth multi-point game of the year last night.

-

Goaltender Mark Dekanich, who made 33 saves on 40 shots last night, stretched his personal unbeaten streak to six (5-0-1-0) with the OTL last night, dating back to 6-5 shootout win over the Adirondack Thunder on February 14.
