PLAYOFF PICTURE
The Monarchs (75 pts.) gained ground in the North Division with last night's victory over the Gladiators, and now sit in a second-place tie with the Brampton Beast in a tight playoff race. The Reading Royals fell last night, and now lead the division by only one point, with the Adirondack Thunder (72 pts.) hanging on to the final playoff spot, four points ahead of the Wheeling Nailers. The Thunder and Nailers play head-to-head, tonight.
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
Manchester took the first-ever meeting with the Gladiators at SNHU Arena last night, and now hold a 2-1-0-0 record against the ECHL affiliate of the Boston Bruins, out-scoring their foes from the South, 9-6, in their series history. Of the Monarchs 32 victories this year, last night's 4-1 win was only the seventh time the Monarchs held their opponents to a single goal, but improved their overall record to 28-3-2-2 when scoring four or more goals.
BACK-TO-BACK
Monarchs captain, David Kolomatis, has scored goals in consecutive games for the first time this season, and the first time since Nov. 26-27, 2015. In three career games against Atlanta, Kolomatis has scored twice, 14% of his total goals over the last two seasons. Last night's goal was the 50th of Kolomatis' career.
25
Manchester netminder, Colin Stevens, posted his 25th professional victory last night over Atlanta. The second-year goalie out of Union College holds the record for the most ECHL victories in franchise history, with five more wins than Sam Brittain.
TURNING ON THE POWER
The Monarchs power-play unit has started to amp up again, having scored in three-consecutive contests. The Monarchs are clicking at 42.9 percent (3-for-7) since Mar. 11, after going 2-for-27 (7.4%) in their previous nine games, including a stretch where they went 0-for-13.
