PROVIDENCE, RI – Defenseman Jason Holland collected the game-winning goal with 48 seconds remaining in regulation as the Manchester Monarchs beat the Providence Bruins, 3-2, and evened their series with the Providence Bruins at 2-2 before a crowd of 7,764 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Wednesday night.

Defenseman Denis Grebeshkov and right wing Tom Kostopoulos (0-2=2) had assists on Holland's first goal of the playoffs, with Kostopoulos digging the puck out of the corner and Grebeshkov feeding Holland at the right circle. Holland did the rest, dropping the hammer on a slap shot that whizzed by Bruins goalie Hannu Toivonen (27 shots, 24 saves).

Like the Bruins, the Monarchs split a pair of road games to even the series. Game 5 of the best-of-seven series is scheduled for Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena.

The Bruins tied the game with 7:40 remaining in regulation when defenseman Milan Jurcina knocked down a Monarchs clearing attempt and hammered his first goal of the playoffs through the pads of goalie Mathieu Garon (26 shots, 24 saves). The goal, triggered from the blue line, was unassisted.

For the first time in the series, the Monarchs collected the first goal of the game. It was scored on the power play by veteran right wing Brad Smyth at 2:08. Center Michael Cammalleri (0-2=2) and left wing Dustin Brown (1-1=2) shared assists on Smyth's second goal of the series, registered after he secured a bouncing puck in front of the Bruins net.

The Monarchs attempted the first five shots of the game, but the Bruins quickly made up the difference thanks to three consecutive power plays. The Bruins tied the game on their third power play chance when left wing Tomas Kurka blasted a left circle slap shot over the glove of Garon at 14:22. Center Patrice Bergeron had the only assist on Kurka's third goal of the series.

The Monarchs responded well to the Kurka tally and rallied to take a 2-1 lead just 1:32 later when Brown slammed home his third goal of the series. Cammalleri and Kostopoulos had assists on the goal as Cammalleri's right circle dish to Brown followed an excellent pinch along the boards by Kostopoulos.

Cammalleri nearly added to the Monarchs lead six minutes into the scoreless middle period, but his blue line slap shot dinged off the cross bar and fluttered into the corner.

The Bruins skated with the man-advantage three more times in the second period, but failed to convert. They finished the game 1-for-7 on the power play. The Monarchs were 1-for-2 with the man-advantage.

Both Garon and (2-2) and Toivonen (2-2) finished with 24 saves.
