
Hennessy Joins Capital District Sports

Albany N.Y. - Capital District Sports, Inc. announced today that Joe Hennessy has been hired as the organization's Vice President of Sales. He will oversee sponsorship and ticket sales for both of the company's sports franchises, the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League and the Albany Conquest of arenafootball2.
"We are ecstatic to be able to bring in someone with Joe's credentials and experience in the Capital Region as well as within the sports industry," said President/CEO S. Garen Szablewski. "His strong leadership of the Albany Firebirds along with the other sports franchises he has guided gives Capital District Sports great optimism."
Hennessy brings over 20 years of progressive experience in executive management and most recently served as general manager of the Arena Football League's Philadelphia Soul during the 2004 season. He had previously held in a similar role with the AFL's Indiana Firebirds for three seasons after the franchise relocated following an 11-year run as the Albany Firebirds, which included the team's 1999 ArenaBowl championship. Hennessy was named the 1994 AFL Executive of the Year and also earned the league's Commissioner's Award for overall team performance.

I look forward to providing even more great entertainment options for Capital Region families at Pepsi Arena this year and into the future."
The Albany native brings experience and leadership with five other local sports franchises including the Albany Patroons of the Continental Basketball Association (1992-93), Empire State Stallions of the United State Basketball League (1991), the New York Kick of the National Professional Soccer League (1991), and the Albany Capitals of the American Soccer League (1989).
Capital District Sports Inc. owns and operates the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League and provides management services for the Albany Conquest of arenafootball2.
