HARTFORD, CT – Right wing Ken Gernander scored the game-winning goal with less than four minutes remaining in regulation as the Hartford Wolf Pack edged the Manchester Monarchs, 3-2, before 3,804 fans at the Hartford Civic Center on Saturday night.

The Monarchs, winless in their last three games (0-2-1-0) after winning a team record 13 straight contests, dropped to 20-3-1-0 on the season. With 41 points, they still lead the second place Wolf Pack by six points in the American Hockey League's Atlantic Division. With the win, Hartford improved to 16-6-1-2 (35 points) on the season.

Hartford goaltender Jason LaBarbera earned the win in net for the Wolf Pack. He improved to 12-4-1 on the season with 21 saves. Manchester goaltender Adam Hauser (7-1-0) took the loss, his first of the season. He finished with 32 saves.

The teams combined for 106 penalty minutes, 40 penalties and 21 power plays. Manchester finished 2-10 on the power play. Hartford finished 1-11 on the power play.

Wolf Pack center Alexandre Giroux grabbed the first goal of the game on the power play at 18:37 of the opening period. Defenseman Bryce Lampman and right wing Jeff Hamilton assisted on Giroux's team-leading ninth goal of the season.

The Monarchs, aided by consecutive 5-on-3 power play advantages to open the second period, struck twice in 26 seconds to take the lead. Center Michael Cammalleri netted his league-leading 21st goal of the season on the power play at 2:59, and left wing Noah Clarke added his eighth goal of the season on the power play at 3:25. Defenseman Denis Grebeshkov assisted on both goals, Clarke had an assist on Cammalleri's league-leading 11th power play marker and left wing Dustin Brown was credited with an assist on the Clarke tally.

Hartford center Ryan Hollweg tied the game later in the period with his fourth goal, scored with a nifty backhander through the slot at 13:38. Defenseman Craig Weller and left wing Garth Murray shared assists on the goal.

Hollweg also had a hand in the next goal, scored by Gernander from the right circle with just 3:42 remaining in the game. Hollweg dished to Gernander, who slipped his second goal of the season by Hauser. Center Dwight Helminen also collected an assist on the game winner.
