
Monarchs Care Distributed $181,579 In Cash Grants In 2003-04

MANCHESTER, NH â The Manchester Monarchs, the top affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, distributed $181,579 in cash grants in 2003-04 through the Monarchs Care Foundation, the organization's charitable arm. The cash distribution total was the highest in the three-year history of the franchise. The Monarchs also donated an additional $15,500 in merchandise and $25,960 in tickets to school children and various fundraising events throughout New Hampshire in 2003-04. Several area organizations benefited from the Monarchs Care donations, including the Ace Bailey Children's Fund, Big Brothers Big Sisters Manchester, Boys & Girls Club of Manchester, Catholic Medical Center, Child Health Services, Heritage United Way, New Hampshire Legends of Hockey and Special Olympics of New Hampshire.
"The Monarchs Care Foundation is proud to support organizations in our community that promote the health and wellness of families and young people," said Cheryl Abbott, the Monarchs Director of Community Relations.
"The Monarchs have been tremendous supporters of our community partners and role models for other organizations in Manchester," said Mike Quinn, Director of Communications and Marketing for Heritage United Way. "Through their United Way 50/50 raffle and other assistance, our agencies are able to raise needed funds while sending a clear message to fans and the public about the importance of investing in a stronger, healthier community."
The Monarchs made donations of cash, merchandise or tickets to 322 organizations in 2003-04. In addition, members of the Monarchs hockey team made 181 appearances throughout the greater Manchester region over the past seven months. Appearances included visits to area schools, youth hockey rinks, Boys & Girls Clubs and hospitals. Max, the team's mascot, was also very busy, making 100 appearances on behalf of the organization in 2003-04. His appearances included stops at community events ranging from fairs to walk-a-thons.
