Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that the team has been assigned Ed Wittchow from the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL).
The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.
Wittchow, 24, returns to the Monarchs after being recalled by the Thunderbirds on October 27, 2016. Before his recall, Wittchow played four games for the Monarchs and registered two points on two assists, while adding five penalty minutes. While with the Thunderbirds, Wittchow played in 11 games, recorded one point on an assist as well as 24 penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound native of Burnsville, Minn., was selected in the 6th round (154 overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft before playing four seasons at the University of Wisconsin. While on campus, Wittchow scored 17 points on one goal and 16 assists, and was named captain for his senior season.
Wittchow and the Monarchs are back in action Saturday, Jan. 14 (6 p.m.) when they host North Division rival, the Adirondack Thunder, at SNHU Arena on Girl Scout Night. Make sure you are in your seats for the 1st intermission, as the Londonderry High School Marching Band will perform on the ice.
Be part of an amazing night as the Monarchs will raise funds for CMC's Breast Care Center in the annual Pink in the Rink Game to be held Feb. 11 at SNHU Arena. The Monarchs will honor breast cancer survivors prior to the game, play on pink ice, and wear special pink jerseys that will be available for auction during the game. Pink Packs are now available and include a ticket to the game, a Pink in the Rink t-shirt, a $5 donation to the Breast Care Center and a flex voucher to a future game, all for $35. Club Seat Pink Packs are available for $40.
