Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that Justin Agosta has been returned from loan by the San Antonio Rampage (AHL), and the team has signed Ashton Rome to a Standard Player Contract.
The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.
Agosta, 26, returns to the Monarchs after being loaned to San Antonio on Dec. 12, and played one game while with the rampage. Agosta returns to the Monarchs lineup as the leading scorer among defensemen to this point in the season, after scoring 19 points on six goals and 13 assists in 23 games, while adding 23 penalty minutes and a +16 rating.
The 6-foot-3, 201-pound native of East Meadow, NY is making his second appearance in the AHL after playing eight games for the Charlotte Checkers in the 2015-16 season.
Rome, 30, signed with the Monarchs after playing eight games this season for the Iserlohn Roosters (DEL), where he scored three points on three goals. Rome has spent the last four seasons playing in Germany for Iserlohn, D-sseldorfer EG and the Schwenninger Wild Wings, where he played 158 games and totaled 107 points on 58 goals and 49 assists.
The 6-foot-1, 203-pound native of Nesbitt, MB was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft (#108 overall) but did not sign. After a final season in the WHL, Rome was then drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft (#143 overall). In his career, Rome has logged 294 AHL games with the Worcester Sharks, Toronto Marlies, Hershey Bears and Portland Pirates, and scored 78 points on 40 goals and 38 assists, winning a Calder Cup in 2010.
Agosta, Rome and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Dec. 16 (7 p.m.) when they host the Elmira Jackals for the first contest of a two-game weekend series at SNHU Arena.
