Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans battled back twice on Wednesday night against the Colorado Eagles, but in the end it was Colorado getting the last laugh in a 5-4 win over the Americans.

Former Americans defenseman Matt Register had the game winner for Colorado, scoring their second power play goal of the game in the third period to put the Eagles in the lead for good. Luke Salazar led the charge for Colorado with two goals and two assists, earning the number one star of the game.

"We weren't very good defensively tonight," said Americans forward Chad Costello following the game. "We gave them way too many chances in front of our net and they made us pay for it."

Costello, along with Greger Hanson, each had three-point nights for Allen scoring two goals and an assist each. Hanson notched his 12th and 13th of the season, while Costello netted numbers 11 and 12.

The loss was the Americans second in a row. Colorado sweeps the season series with Allen, two games to none.

The Americans return to action on Friday night when the Wichita Thunder comes to town at 7:05 PM. It's Ugly Sweater Night in Allen on Friday with the jerseys up for auction after the game.

Three Stars:

1. COL - L. Salazar

2. ALN - C. Costello

3. ALN - G. Hanson
