Modesto Nuts News Release
The Modesto Nuts evened the three game series at a game apiece with the San Jose Giants Saturday night with a 6-3 win. The Nuts used strong pitching from starting pitcher Marc Kaiser (7-3) to go with some timely hitting to get back in the win column.
Modesto got on the scoreboard early thanks to a RBI single from Michael Davies in the first inning. Modesto scored three more runs in the fourth inning when catcher Erik Dean scored on a pair of singles by designated hitter Kyle Wilson and shortstop Jonathan Herrera. The scoring concluded in the eighth inning on a pair of sacrifice flies by Herrera and center fielder Seth Smith.
Marc Kaiser went seven strong innings before he handed the pitching duties to Caleb Balbuena, Josh Newman and Tomas Santiago. Santiago pitched the final inning and a third to record his third save on the season.
The series concludes Sunday evening when Juan Morillo (6-4) pitches for Modesto against Garrett Broshuis (9-9) of the Giants. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at John Thurman Field.
