FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The Revolution Academy Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 teams are heading to Maryland SoccerPlex to compete in the 2024 MLS NEXT Flex. New England is one of 65 clubs participating in the annual qualifying competition, battling to clinch a top seed spot in the postseason.
New England will kick off group play tomorrow. Last season, all three of New England's teams went undefeated in the competition, clinching spots in the 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs, with the U-19s bringing home their second consecutive national championship.
The U-19s will play against RSL Arizona, Diablo Valley Wolves, and Houston Rangers in Group G play at MLS NEXT Flex. New England defeated Rochester New York FC, 3-1, on Saturday with Braedon Smith (2004 - New York City,N.Y.) opening the scoring in the seventh minute, while Steban Betancur Lopera (2005- Revere, Mass.) tallied the game winner in the 90 th minute and now has two goals on the MLS NEXT season.
The U-17s will compete in Group A alongside the Seattle Sounders, Southern Soccer Academy, and St. Louis City SC. New England's U-17s are coming off a 2-2 draw to Toronto FC last weekend, where Judah Siqueira (2009 - South Easton, Mass.) recorded his first goal with the U-17s, capitalizing off an assist from Sage Kinner (2007- Burlington, Vt.). Cristiano Carlos (2008- Chicopee Mass.) tallied the second goal of the match and his second of the season, before Toronto equalized in 90 th minute. The U-15s are set to take on Inter Miami FC, Strikers FC, and Portland Timbers in Group F action, following a loss to Toronto FC, 3-0, last Sunday.
New England's U-14s and U-13s were also in action last weekend, facing off against Rochester New York FC. The U-14s earned a 4-1 win over Rochester last Saturday. Lucas Pereira (2010 - East Merrimack, N.H.) tallied twice while Rikelme De Almeida (2011 - Easton, Mass.) also scored in the match, recording his 11 th goal of the season with the U-14s.
The U-13s extended their unbeaten streak to 30 consecutive matches with a 5-0 win over Rochester New York FC. New England's Boston Kahoalii (2012 - Whitman, Mass.) netted his 14 th goal of the season while Landon Ho Sang (2011 - Ludlow, Mass.) also tallied his 14 th goal of the year. Navayush Gurung (2011 - Medford, Mass.) and Arthur Bernardino (2011- Shirley, Mass.) both recorded goal-and-assist performances in last Saturday's match. Goalkeeper Charles Wallace (2010- Burlington, Vt.) took home his 13 th clean-sheet of the season.
While the U-15s, U-17s, and U-19s compete in MLS NEXT Flex for the next five days, New England's U-14s and U-13s continue the MLS NEXT regular season with a visit to New York City FC on Saturday.
