Los Angeles FC News Release
The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) advanced to the Round of 16 of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday with a 3-1 win over the Las Vegas Lights FC of the USL at Cashman Field in Las Vegas, NV.
Cristian Olivera scored two second-half goals, including the game-winner in the 70th minute to help the Black & Gold advance in the single-elimination tournament. Kei Kamara gave LAFC a 1-0 lead in the 47th minute with his first goal in an LAFC uniform, but the Lights tied the match nine minutes later. It was then left to Olivera to find the back of the net twice to help the Black & Gold pull away.
LAFC will next host the USL's Loudon United FC in the Round of 16 at BMO Stadium on May 21 or May 22. Time and ticket information will be announced tomorrow.
LAFC returns to MLS action on Saturday, May 11, when it hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps at 7:30 p.m. PT at BMO Stadium. That match can be seen live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV and on 710 AM ESPN LA, the ESPN LA app, SiriusXM FC (Sirius XM), and 980 AM La Mera Mera (Esp).
