Real Salt Lake News Release

SANDY, Utah (Monday, July 27, 2009) Six Major League Soccer All-Stars, including Real Salt Lake's Kyle Beckerman and Javier Morales and Seattle Sounders FC star Freddie Ljungberg, will join forces with The Home Depot associates, organizers from KaBOOM! and local volunteers to build an entire playground at the Northwest Recreation Center. The playground build is part of a partnership between The Home Depot, MLS W.O.R.K.S., Major League Soccer's community outreach initiative, and KaBOOM! designed to build a playspace as part of the 14th annual MLS All-Star Game festivities. The new playground will create a great place to play within walking distance of the more than 3,000 children who attend the Northwest Recreation Center each year.

MLS is committed to creating sustainable projects to leave a lasting legacy. The playground build falls under the MLS W.O.R.K.S. "United We Serve" initiative, which is a collaborative effort to combine sport and service, promote good will and improve lives and communities at the grassroots level.

This build is part of The Home Depot's ongoing commitment to give back to the communities its stores serve. The project is funded through a grant from The Home Depot along with a contribution from NeighborWorks Salt Lake and Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation.
