FC Dallas News Release

FRISCO, Texas (Tuesday, Sept. 22) - FC Dallas midfielders Fabian Castillo (No. 1) and Kellyn Acosta (No. 14) were named to MLSsoccer.com's annual 24 Under 24 list, which highlights the top 24 players in MLS under the age of 24.

This is the fifth time Castillo, 23, has been named to the list (No. 3 in 2014, No. 15 in 2013, No. 22 in 2012 and No. 7 in 2011). Having recently received his first cap with the Colombian National Team, the speedy winger has scored nine goals this season, one goal off the pace of his MLS career high of 10, which he recorded last year. Castillo recorded his MLS career high, seventh assist last match on a goal scored by Victor Ulloa. Castillo ranks seventh in franchise history in goals scored with 29 in 133 appearances.

Acosta, 20, has enjoyed career highs across the board this season. A native of Plano, Texas, the defensive midfielder has scored twice and added a third in U.S. Open Cup play. He also has two assists since returning from the 2015 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand on June 16.

Five additional FC Dallas players made the 24 Under 24 short list including the youngest player in the league, Alejandro Zendejas (17), Walker Zimmerman (23), Tesho Akindele (23), Victor Ulloa (23) and Moises Hernandez (23).

Zendejas was called into international duty yesterday by U.S. U-17 head coach Richie Williams. Zendejas is one of 24 players named to a pre-World Cup training camp taking place in Mexico City this week. The U.S. U-17s will face Mexico in friendlies on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and Friday, Sept. 25. It is the team's final action ahead of next month's FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile.
