Kane County Cougars News Release
APPLETON, Wisc. - The Kane County Cougars' starting rotation continued to dominate in the month of May, thanks to a seven-inning gem Sunday afternoon by Scott Mitchinson, who led the Cougars to a 4-0 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in front of 4,349 fans at Time Warner Cable Field.
Mitchinson (4-1) notched his fourth quality start, tossing seven frames of four-hit, no-walk ball with a new season-high nine strikeouts. It was the ninth quality start in 15 tries for the starting rotation this month and the eighth occasion where the starter didn't allow an earned run. Chad Kerfoot kept the shutout alive with two perfect relief frames and notched his first save as a Cougar.

Carlos Arrieche doubled home Jonathan Johnston in the sixth to make it 3-0, and Matt Ray scored on a wild pitch in the ninth to account for the 4-0 final.
The Cougars (26-14) continue their eight-game, seven-day road trip Monday night at 6:30 CT against the Burlington Bees. Cougars ace Craig Italiano (5-0, 0.90) is scheduled to oppose left-hander Danny Duffy, who will makes his Bees debut.
