
Mitchell's Homer Lifts Curve to 4-2 Win

CURVE, PA - Cal Mitchell hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lead the Altoona Curve to a 4-2 victory over the Harrisburg Senators on Thursday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Johnstown, PA native, Trey McGough turned in a career-long start of 6.0 innings in the victory, allowing two runs on six hits, no walks, and two strikeouts. McGough retired 11-of-12 batters to finish his outing after an RBI single by Corban Joseph in the third inning. The left-hander threw 82 pitches, 62 strikes.
The Curve managed two runs off top Nationals pitching prospect Cade Cavalli over the first six innings of the game. Rodolfo Castro doubled in the third inning and advanced to third on an error by RF Carlos Tocci as the ball checked up into the right field corner. Mason Martin followed with an RBI double to right-center to make it a 2-1 game. Altoona added another in the fifth inning when Brendt Citta singled home Daniel Amaral to draw the game even at two. Cavalli struck out 11 across 5.2 innings.
Brade Case and Hunter Stratton finished off the game with three scoreless innings of relief. Stratton managed to work out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth inning by getting Corban Joseph to pop out on the infield to end the game. Stratton earned his second win of the season, he struck out a pair in 1.1 innings of relief.
Jonah Davis added a two-hit day at the plate as the Curve accumulated nine hits in the game. Martin, Citta and Mitchell each had multi-hit games.
The Curve will continue their six-game series with the Harrisburg Senators on Friday night. LHP Omar Cruz (AA Debut) will get the start for Altoona, RHP Mario Sanchez (1-4, 3.55) will take the ball for Harrisburg.
