Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Hartford, CT- Slugger Taylor Snyder smashed two homers and led the Hartford Yard Goats to a 3-2 victory against the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Thursday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford. The infielder gave the Yard Goats a 2-0 lead with a two-run blast in the first inning and later connected on a solo homer in the eighth, his league leading 13th of the season. Frank Duncan had another terrific start for Hartford and surrendered only one run in six inning and recorded the win and lowered his ERA to 2.76.
The Yard Goats scored two runs in the first inning off Richmond starter Trenton Toplikar. Sean Bouchard walked and Taylor Snyder cranked a two-run homer to left, giving Hartford a 2-0 lead.
Hartford starter Frank Duncan retired 15 of the first 17 batters from the first to fifth innings. He recorded four strikeouts and sat down the side in order in the first, third and fifth innings. Vince Fernandez hit a solo homer for Richmond in the seventh inning to make it a 2-1 game.
The Yard Goats added a run on Snyder's second home, a solo shot to start the eighth, giving the Yard Goats a 3-1 lead. Richmond got a run in the ninth on Sandro Fabian's solo homer to make it a 3-2 game. Tommy Doyle registered the final three outs for his second save.
