
Missoula Explodes for Season-High 20 Hits in Saturday Win

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (18-17) exploded for a season-high 20 hits in an 11-1 victory over the Idaho Falls Chukars (19-16) Saturday from Ogren Park Allegiance Field. Four Osprey players recorded three hits on the evening.
Missoula's offense started right out of the gate in the first inning when Geraldo Perdomo tripled to lead off the inning. With two outs, Zack Shannon singled up the middle to plate the first run of the game.
In the top of the second, Osprey starter Deyni Olivero (1-2) worked a double play ball to help get out of the inning while the offense added another run in the frame on a Joe Robbins solo home run. Missoula tagged on a run in the third when Zac Almond grounded into a double play to score Perdomo. Jesus Munoz recorded an RBI single in the fourth to give the Osprey a 4-0 lead after four.
The only run of the day off the Osprey staff came in the fifth when Julio Gonzalez drew a leadoff walk against Olivero. Offerman Collado notched an RBI groundout to pull the game within 4-1 for Idaho Falls.
With one out in the fifth, Almond hit his seventh home run of the season to give Missoula a 5-1 lead. Brandon Leyton drove home two more with a double in the inning as the Osprey led 7-1 after six. Leyton singled home another run in the seventh while Eddie Hernandez follow him with a run-scoring single of his own to help Missoula charge ahead 10-1 after eight.
Leyton capped off the night with another RBI single in the eighth to push the final score to 11-1 in favor of Missoula.
Olivero finished the day with five innings of one-run baseball, earning his first win of the season. The right- hander allowed four hits and struck out one. Leyton, Robbins, Shannon and Perdomo each finished with three hits as the Osprey notched 20 hits in a game for the first time this year.
Missoula returns to action Sunday for a 5:05 pm first pitch vs. Idaho Falls at Ogren Park Allegiance Field. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 4:45 p.m. on ESPN 102.9 and the MiLB First Pitch App.
