Frisco RoughRiders News Release

The RoughRiders couldn't hold on as they fell 3-1 Monday night to the San Antonio Missions from Dr Pepper Ballpark. The 'Riders lose the four-game series three games to one, and give the Missions a six game lead in the Division.

After trailing the entire game, the Missions broke through in the eighth with two runs. Andy Parrino's two out RBI single scored Anthony Contreras from third. Jose Ruiz's throw to first on the play went wide allowing Bryan Altman to score and give the Missions a 2-1 lead.

Ali Solis' solo blast with two outs in the ninth cushioned the Missions' lead entering the bottom of the ninth.

With two outs in the last of the ninth, Tommy Mendonca singled to right-center field. He tried to stretch the single to a double and was tagged out at second base to seal the Missions' win. The 'Riders took a 1-0 lead in the second on Mike Bianucci's 26th homer of the season but failed to score again.

Frisco starter Derek Hankins made his Frisco debut and pitched five scoreless innings and allowed just one hit in a no decision.

Former RoughRider Robbie Erlin made his return to Frisco for the Missions and pitched six innings allowing one run on two hits. Erlin struck out nine and had no walks for a no decision as well.

Richard Bleier was saddled with the loss and is now 4-7 after tossing two and two-thirds innings of relief and allowing two runs, one earned.

Craig Italiano earned the victory and is now 5-1 after a scoreless seventh inning pitched.

The RoughRiders will resume play Wednesday against Northwest Arkansas after the off day Tuesday. Robbie Ross (0-1, 4.50) will toe the rubber for Frisco against Jeremy Jeffress (1-1, 4.60).
