San Antonio Missions News Release

Casey Hudspeth went the distance for only the second time in his career, scattering nine San Antonio hits, as the Hooks defeated the Missions last night 5-2 before a crowd of 5,695 at Whataburger Field.

Hudspeth struggled early, allowing both runs in the first two innings on five hits, including Seth Johnston's fourth home run of the season leading off the second to give the Missions a 2-1 lead.

Steve Faris (2-5) took the loss allowing four runs (three earned) in a solid six-inning outing. Josh Flores led the way for Hooks with a 2-for-4 performance, including a lead-off home run in the bottom of the first to tie the game at 1-1 after Missions had taken the lead 1-0 on a two-out Cedric Hunter double and Mike Baxter's RBI-single in the top of the first.

Trailing 2-1, the Hooks took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth on a Drew Locke single, Mark Ori's double and two consecutive RBI-groundouts to take a 3-2 lead.

The Hooks added a pair of unearned runs in the sixth and seventh innings on two costly errors to seal Faris' fate.
