San Antonio Missions News Release
San Antonio - The Missions took game one of a three game series from the Corpus Christi Hooks with a 4-0 victory tonight at Nelson Wolff Stadium. The Missions now improve to (23 - 15) in the second half and (72-36) overall.
Runs were at a premium Tuesday night between the Hooks and Missions. Corpus Chris starter Jarred Cosart and San Antonio starter Robbie Erlin, each put up zeros before putting it in the hands of their bullpens.
Erlin, made his Missions debut since being acquired from the Texas Rangers last Sunday. Erlin allowed five hits in six innings while striking out six. His counterpart Jarred Cosart, held San Antonio to just a pair of hits in his six innings of work.
The Missions offense got things going in the bottom of the eighth inning scoring four runs to put the Missions ahead of the Hooks.
Game two of the series is tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at Nelson Wolff Stadium. San Antonio will send left-hander Pedro Hernandez (0-0, 5.00 ERA) to the mound while the Hooks will counter with righty Ross Seaton (4-7, 5.89 ERA).
