Missions Can't Break Through in Corpus

CORPUS CHRISTI--The Missions got 3.1 hitless innings from the bullpen but didn't score after the second inning as the Hooks made it eight straight wins over San Antonio Sunday night at Whataburger Field.

Rafael DePaula balked home the go-ahead run in the fifth inning.

Nick Schulz and River Stevens delivered RBI-hits over the first two frames for the Missions (19-42), who were held to two or fewer runs for the 16th time in 26 games. The club did start the day leading the league in batting for the month of June while averaging four runs per game in June.

Brendan McCurry notched his league-leading 13th save of the year with two perfect innings.

NOTES: Nick Torres was 0-3 with a walk, ending his 13-game hitting streak...Nelson Ward has reached base nine times in the last six games
