Round Rock Express News Release
The San Antonio Missions dominated the middle innings of Friday night's game to make short work of the Round Rock Express, 10-4. A season high 11,854 fans at The Dell Diamond saw San Antonio batter the Round Rock staff for 14 hits, while scoring all of their runs in the third through seventh innings. The Missions, the best hitting team in the Texas League, scored four times in the third, while pounding out three extra base hits off of starter and losing pitcher Ruddy Lugo (0-7).
San Antonio followed that up with a pair of runs in the sixth and seventh to negate a Round Rock rally. The Express did plate a combined three runs in the fifth and sixth innings, highlighted by RBI singles by Mike Hill and Tommy Whiteman. However, that was all Round Rock could muster off of starter and winner, Chris Wright (5-2).
A day after losing a 12-game hitting streak, Chris Burke began a new one with a 3 for 4 night. He extended his consecutive games streak of getting on base to 32, a Texas League season high.
The Express will now go on the road for a nine-game road trip to Midland and San Antonio. The trip will begin Saturday in Midland at 5:30 p.m. with the first game of a doubleheader. Mike Burns will pitch the first game for Round Rock followed by James Lira, who will be making his first start of the year.
