
Zephyrs Defeat Grizzlies, 7-5

Metairie, LA â Jason Alfaro was 3-3 with two runs scored to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs (24-17) to a 7 to 5 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies (18-21) on Friday Night at Zephyr Field in front of 8,491.
New Orleans took a 2 to 0 lead in the third on a two run double from catcher Raul Chavez. Fresno countered with three in the top of the fourth as Damon Minor had an RBI groundout, Tony Torcato drove in a run with a single and Carlos Hernandez drove in the final run of the inning on a single.
The Zephyrs took the lead for good in the fifth as Chavez led off with a single to right. Kyle Logan reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second as Alfaro walked. Colin Porter walked to load the bases. Zephyrs starting pitcher Kirk Saarloos singled to left scoring Logan and Alfaro.
Saarloos picked up the win pitching 6 1/3 innings allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out five. Rob Stanifer picked up his first save of the season pitching two scoreless innings. Grizzlies starter Jeff Urban suffered the loss pitching 4 1/3 innings allowing six runs on ten hits.
The Zephyrs and Grizzlies continue the four-game series on Saturday at 6:05 P.M. Zephyrs will Salute the Military on Saturday Night Louisiana's Largest Military Rally starts at 5:00 P.M. The National Anthem will be performed by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dave Bartholomew. The first 7,500 Fans Receive a Red, White, and Blue Bandana.
