FREDERICK, MD. - Clutch hits by Sergio Miranda and Adam Ricks in the top of the ninth helped give Winston-Salem its 70th win of the season and win No. 41 in second half on Saturday night, 5-3 over the Frederick Keys. The rally came one night after the Warthogs clinched their first playoff berth since 2005.

With the game tied in the top of the ninth, Ronnie Gaines led off the inning with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Estee Harris. Then came Miranda, who lifted a high fly ball to right that was lost by Frederick right fielder Brandon Tripp. Tripp seemingly camped under the ball, but it bounced behind him and over the wall for an RBI ground-rule double.

Ricks followed with a bloop single scoring Miranda, putting the Hogs on top 5-3.

Matt Zaleski (7-2) pitched two scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win for Winston-Salem (41-27).

Warthogs starter Clevelan Santeliz tied his longest outing of the season, lasting seven innings and allowing three runs off five hits and striking out six.

Keys starter Tim Bascom also lasted seven innings, allowing three runs off seven hits. Kenny Moreland (0-1) suffered the loss for Fredrick in his Carolina League debut.

After a scoreless first inning, Winston-Salem manufactured a run in the second when Gaines drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored on a Harris double.

Frederick responded immediately off Santeliz when Tripp doubled and Chris Amador smacked his ninth home run of the season putting the Keys on top 2-1.

The lead was short-lived as the Hogs struck again in the third. Dale Mollenhauer led off with a double, then scored on a double by C.J. Retherford. Retherford would later score on a one-out RBI groundout by Salvador Sanchez to give Winston-Salem a 3-2 lead.

Mollenhauer went 2-for-4 to help raise his average from .238 to .256 over the last three games. He also hit a sharp liner in the seventh, but second-baseman Miguel Abreu made a diving stop.

Frederick got to Santeliz again in the sixth when Brandon Snyder lifted his 13th home run of the season over the wall in straightaway center, tying the game 3-3.

Game three of this four-game regular season finale will start at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday night at Harry Grove Stadium. The Winston-Salem Warthogs will send RHP Jacob Rasner (5-7, 3.55 ERA) to the mound. He will be opposed by Keys RHP Kyle Schmidt (4-4, 3.51 ERA).
