K-Tribe beats Pelicans

The K-Tribe snapped a three game losing streak, beating Myrtle Beach 8-5 Saturday night in South Carolina. Kinston starter Carlton Smith picked up his Carolina League leading 12th win of the season. Smith will finish the year 12-6 with a 4.37 ERA. The win was iced by Josh Tomlin who picked up his third save of the season. Matt Meyer also had 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.

Kinston scored in six of the first seven innings, helped by home runs from both Carlos Santana and Roman Pena. Santana finished 2-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Nick Weglarz also had two hits for Kinston.

The K-Tribe will take on Myrtle Beach Sunday night at 6:05. Jeanmar Gomez will make the start for the K-Tribe.
