Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release
Wilmington, DE - For the 13th time in 16 seasons, the Wilmington Blue Rocks have clinched a berth in the Carolina League's postseason. The Blue Rocks won the Northern Division wild card and will play the Potomac Nationals in a best-of-five division series beginning on Wednesday, September 3. The winner will take on the Southern Division champion in the Mills Cup championship series.
Games One and Two of the Northern Division series will be played at Pftizner Stadium in Woodbridge, VA on Wednesday, September 3 and Thursday, September 4. The Blue Rocks will then host Game Three on Friday, September 5 at 7:05 p.m. and, if necessary, Game Four on Saturday, September 6 at 6:05 p.m. If the divisional series goes to a fifth and deciding game it will be played at Potomac on Sunday, September 7.
If the Blue Rocks were to advance to the Mills Cup series, Games One and Two would be played at the Southern Division champion's home park. The Blue Rocks would then host Game Three, and if necessary, Games Four and Five of the championship series. Dates and times for those potential games are to be determined.
Blue Rocks playoff tickets are currently on sale for Games Three and Four of the Northern Division series. Possible Mills Cup series tickets would not go on sale until the Blue Rocks secure a spot in the championship round. All fans that purchase tickets for Game Four of the Northern Division series will be refunded their money should that game not be played.
The Blue Rocks will have an open seating policy for all 2008 playoff games, meaning seating will be determined on a first come, first serve basis. There are two separate open seating options that fans may purchase for the divisional series. Under Option No. 1, fans may sit in the box, upper box or reserved sections for $9 per ticket. Under Option No. 2, fans can enjoy a two-hour all-you-can-eat picnic and then sit in the regular stands for the duration of the game for $20 per person. The picnic will include hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, barbeque chicken, soda, and more. The picnic time for Game Three of the divisional series will be 6-8 p.m. and, for Game Four, 5-7 p.m.
Any season ticket holder that wishes to retain his or her regular seat location may request so at the time of their purchase and the Blue Rocks will gladly reserve those seats.
