SARASOTA --- The Sarasota Reds put together a rally in the ninth inning with three runs on six hits until Blair Erickson emerged from the bullpen. Strikeout. Lineout. Strikeout. And just like that, it was the Miracle's third straight victory and Erickson's first save of 2009 in an 8-6 final at Ed Smith Stadium.

Kyle Waldrop, after an effective seventh and eighth, surrendered five straight hits to the Reds before Spencer Steedley entered and allowed a hit on one pitch. Manager Jeff Smith wasted no time, removing Steedley after one toss, and Erickson rewarded his confidence with a dominating one inning pitched, no hits, and two strikeouts.

Erickson saved it for Mike McCardell (3-2), who has won three straight decisions. The West Chester, Penn., native threw six innings with six hits allowed, three earned runs, one walk, and seven strikeouts. Jerry Gil (0-5) took the loss with nine hits, five earned runs, three walks, and four strikeouts in six innings.

Ben Revere and Deibinson Romero were each 2-for-5, with a double and stolen base for Romero. Steve Singleton was 1-for-5 with a triple and Danny Lehmann went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, and two stolen bases. Danny Berg hit his first home run of the season as he finished 2-for-4.

Rene Leveret was removed as precaution after pulling up lame beating out a second-inning infield single. Leveret was replaced by Mark Dolenc and is day-to-day.

Before the game, the Miracle placed infielder Yangervis Solarte on the disabled list. With Estarlin de los Santos still sidelined after fouling a ball off his leg in Jupiter, the Miracle are down to two middle infielders -- Chris Cates and Singleton.

Carlos Gutierrez faces his former college teammate Yonder Alonso from the University of Miami in Tuesday night's contest at Ed Smith Stadium.
