Minnesota United to Host the Philadelphia Union in U.S. Open Cup Round of 32

GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - Minnesota United today announced the club will host fellow MLS side, Philadelphia Union, in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Round of 32 on Tuesday, May 9 at Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Kick is set for 7:30 p.m. CT. The match is set to be streamed, with broadcast details to come at a later date.

Tickets for the Round of 32 fixture against Philadelphia start at $20 and will go on sale today, April 28, beginning with a series of presales available to Season Ticket Members and members of The Preserve at 10:30 a.m. CT, followed by a presale for MNUFC Insiders opening at 11:30 a.m. before becoming available to the general public at 12:30 p.m.

The match against the Union is the only currently-scheduled game between the sides, across all competitions, in the 2023 season. Minnesota and Philadelphia last met each other in 2022: a 1-1 draw at Subaru Park on the Season Opener, where Robin Lod scored the lone Loons' goal. Philadelphia last visited Allianz Field on October 20, 2021, and the Loons emerged victorious, 3-2, behind goals from Adrien Hunou, Robin Lod and Franco Fragapane. In regular-season action, Minnesota holds a 1-2-1 (W-L-D) record against the Union, including a 1-1-1 record in home matches.

MNUFC defeated Detroit City FC of the USL Championship 3-1 in the Third Round of the tournament this past Tuesday, behind goals from Franco Fragapane, Luis Amarilla and MNUFC2's Emmanuel Iwe.
