New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (6-1-2; 20 pts. - 1st in Eastern Conference) will host FC Cincinnati (6-1-2; 20 pts. - 2nd in Eastern Conference) on Saturday night at Gillette Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish. Callum Williams and Calen Carr will call the match in English, with Diego Pessolano and Luis Gerardo Bucci providing commentary in Spanish. Saturday's match can also be heard on the radio locally on 98.5 The Sports Hub and nationally on SiriusXM FC (Channel 157), with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action, and on 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA in Portuguese. Start your Saturday with "The Soccer Show" on 98.5 The Sports Hub, hosted by DJ Bean, from 6:00 - 7:00 a.m. ET and available on demand.
Saturday's match is the first-ever encounter in MLS history between two teams who've reached the 20-point mark within their first 10 games of the season, per Opta. New England sits just ahead of Cincinnati at the top of the MLS table, thanks to their advantage in goal differential, as the two sides have posted identical 6-1-2 records to open the season. With a win on Saturday, the Revolution would match their best 10-game start (7-1-2, 23 pts.), set in their record-setting 2021 campaign.
In regular season play, New England is an unbeaten 4-0-1 in five games in Foxborough and is outscoring opponents 11-2 at home. The Revolution have yet to concede a goal from open play on its home field this MLS season. Meanwhile, FC Cincinnati enter Matchday 10 as winners in four of their last five games, with only two goals conceded over four games in the month of April. The Orange and Blue, tied for the MLS lead with five clean sheets this season, own a 1-1-2 road record.
New England leads the all-time series against FC Cincinnati, 4-1-1, including a 2-2 draw in the most recent encounter between the two sides on July 3, 2022, at Gillette Stadium. Revolution Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena has never lost to Cincinnati, owning a 4-0-1 record over five meetings. On the opposite bench, Cincinnati's coaching staff features Arena's son, Kenny Arena, as an assistant under Head Coach Pat Noonan, a former Revolution forward who helped New England win three Eastern Conference titles during his five years with the club from 2003-07.
Revolution forward Giacomo Vrioni highlighted last Saturday's victory with his first career MLS brace, netting two first-half goals within a four-minute window. The 24-year-old striker guided New England's attack with career-high marks in shots (5) and shots on target (4), en route to earning an MLS Team of the Matchday selection. Vrioni, who now leads the team with three goals on the season, started each of the last two games. Midfielders Emmanuel Boateng and Carles Gil each distributed an assist in last Saturday's victory, and Gil added another helper in the Revolution's U.S. Open Cup win on Tuesday night. Gil ranks among the MLS leaders in assists (T-6th - 4) and has reached the scoresheet in four of New England's five home games thus far.
Animal Rescue League: Drive Series Presented by Dan O'Brien Automotive Group
During Saturday's match, the Revolution will collect dog and cat food for the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Donations will be accepted at all Gillette Stadium entry points beginning two hours prior to kickoff and ending 15 minutes after the match begins. Fans who donate will receive a car air freshener curtesy of the Revolution and Dan O'Brien Automotive Group. Revolution players will also arrive to the match wearing shirts with photos of dogs and cats up for adoption with the Animal Rescue League. Next week on May 2, Revolution players will visit the ARL Dedham branch to deliver the food collected on Saturday. CLICK HERE for more information.
