Minnesota United Presents 2022 Minnesota 'Night Kit'
February 18, 2022 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Minnesota United FC News Release
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (Feb. 18, 2022) -- Minnesota United today unveiled the new 2022 'Minnesota Night Kit', presented by Target. Combined with the cool blue of the River Kit from 2021, the 'Minnesota Night Kit' puts black and blue front and center for Minnesota United for the team's sixth year in MLS. Struck through with pinpricks of light like stars, the kit is the team's first truly black kit and a reinforcement of our connection to the state as a place of natural wonder.
The kit features the state's motto "L'Étoile du Nord" - French for "Star of the North" - on the neck tape, a reminder of Minnesota's place as the northernmost state of the lower 48 and a beacon in the constellation Ursa Minor for travelers everywhere. Additionally, a six-pointed star, which has been a part of the team's crest from the very beginning, is embossed in blue on the back of the neck.
Beyond the Twin Cities, the night sky over Minnesota opens up. From bone-chilling nights ice fishing on Lake of the Woods to gentle summer evenings spent on the shore of Lake Superior, that sky connects us all as surely as the rivers that run across the state. Its limitlessness reminds us of how high we can fly and how much room we have left to grow.
The 2022 'Minnesota Night Kit' is now on sale at mnufc.com. Minnesota United is hosting a special on-sale at the Black and Blue Team Store at Allianz Field, in partnership with Target, today from 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. CT. For one day only, MNUFC is expanding the Team Store and opening the Brew Hall and northwest corner of the stadium. For the remainder of the month of February, ten percent of the proceeds from in-person sales of the 2022 'Minnesota Night Kit' at the Black and Blue Team Store and a register-round up will be donated to Clean Air Minnesota by the Environmental Initiative.
"With the new 'Minnesota Night Kit', our uniforms will proudly reflect the colors that have been synonymous with Minnesota United since its inception. Our players will wear Minnesota Black and Blue," said MNUFC CEO Shari Ballard. "We are also honored to work with the Environmental Initiative on its 'Clean Air Minnesota' project, and a portion of the sales proceeds of our new kit will go towards reducing air pollution in our community."
Target returns as the primary kit partner and will continue to be featured on the front of the jerseys as they have since the club's inaugural MLS season in 2017.
All guests ages two and older are required to wear to masks in all indoor spaces unless actively eating or drinking. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test will not be required for this event. Cashless payment only to reduce contact. Due to ongoing, nation-wide supply chain challenges, initial jersey supply may be limited.
Single game tickets for the first half of the season are on sale now. Check our website at mnufc.com for more information and follow Minnesota United's social channels for regular updates.
