MONTREAL, Quebec,. -- Minnesota United was unable to stifle the offensive talent of CF Montreal, losing 4-0 to the Canadian side at Stade Saputo on Saturday night. With the loss, the Loons will have two weeks to get right before heading back on the road for a June 24 game against Real Salt Lake.

MINNESOTA UNITED POST GAME QUOTE SHEET

HEAD COACH ADRIAN HEATH...

On analyzing the match against CF Montreal...

"It's not an easy one because normally when you get beat four-nil, you think about the game and think 'yeah, they probably were better than us in most departments of the game.' I don't actually think that's the case this evening. We've conceded poor goals, the first two especially. But in between that, we played really, really well. I know some people who watched the game might not think that, but that's the case. I actually think that we've had better chances than they have tonight."

On the first two goals conceded...

"The first one, obviously it's a deflection off DJ [Taylor] and it's gone over [Dayne St. Clair], but Mason [Toye] got in too easily. He got a hold of the first one and the second one, we've got to stop that source when somebody has got his back to the game and he lays it off and then he gets the second one. The next goal, DJ's too narrow and then hasn't seen him and looks like he's stopped because he thinks he's got it out of play, and he's finished at half. So then you give yourself a mountain to climb, but we kept going and we played good football. We kept the ball and moved it well. Mender's [Garcia] had an unbelievable opportunity to make it two-one and then we had another one go across the face of the goal. As I said to the guys at halftime, you sense when you're on the sideline that there might be something in the game for you. I felt that this evening. I thought if we'd have got the next goal, I thought that we would've been right back in the game. I actually think the third one [goal] was offside. I don't know what it looked like in slo-mo, but it looked offside. Boxy [Michael Boxall] thought it was. At three-nil, you're piling men forward and you always leave yourself susceptible. The four-nil, as Hernan [Losada] said after the game, probably flatters them a little bit."

On Mason Toye scoring two goals against his former team...

"Yeah. At the end of the day, it is what it is. The first one had come off DJ's [Taylor] foot and spun over Dayne [St. Clair]. The second one, I thought we should have dealt with it better than we did."

On the expectation of adaptability from DJ Taylor after switching his defensive side...

"No, I expect better of him from that situation. I expect him to deal with the crossfield ball and if not, you've got to be able to see the man. The ball goes across the front of you. It doesn't go inside of you or over you because with the pace they've [CF Montreal] got in wide areas, you're not going to catch him."

On Mender Garcia's 45-minute performance...

"The kid is lacking a little bit of confidence in this moment in time. It was illustrated in the swing and the miss for the chance that Bongi [Bongokuhle Hlongwane] gave him from five, six yards out. I know what it's like when you're the front man and you want to do well and you don't feel as though you're taking the chances, the opportunities that come your way. Sometimes it plays on you and maybe it's doing that at this moment in time. It is what it is. At the end of the day, I want all the players to do well, but we have to try and win games as well. If I feel as though changing something will help us to get back in the game, then that's what you'll do. As I always say to the players, it's never a personal thing when you leave people out or you change the team. You're just picking the team that you hope can win a game of football."

On if playing Emanuel Reynoso for 45 minutes was planned or induced by the momentum of the match...

"Yeah, that was because I wasn't seeing what I wanted in the first half. He has done some great moments for us again. We have two big weeks now with Rey [Emanuel Reynoso]. He's getting closer and closer. Now we need to get some really heavy work into him, especially this week. The following week, then we can get him integrated into the team and maybe get ready for [Real] Salt Lake."

On the feeling that he was pushing Emanuel Reynoso's limits with 45 minutes of action...

"Well, if you had asked him, he'd probably think he should've started, but we have to think of the big picture as well."

On Sang Bin Jeong's injury...

"Hamstring. Friday. Felt a bit tight. Same thing: didn't want to risk it."

On the focus with the team over the international break...

"Everybody is in a different stage in their season. The likes of [Bakaye] Dibassy, the likes of Rey [Emanuel Reynoso] and one or two others... they need work and they'll get work in the next couple of weeks. People like Boxy [Michael Boxal] and people like Micky [Miguel Tapias] have played virtually every minute of every game. This will be an opportunity for us to give them some rest as much mentally as well as physically. Hopefully, we can get one or two people freshened up and one or two people with a little bit more work on and a little bit more match fitness."

On Luis Amarilla's transfer to Mazatlan of LIGA MX...

"I'm disappointed for us, I'm disappointed for Lu [Luis Amarilla]. He's a good kid, and he's worked really hard, and it just doesn't seem as though it was working for him. We had the opportunity, we got offered a fair fee for him. With other things that are going on for us, we felt it was the right time to pull the trigger on this one."
