Minnesota Twins Infielder Trevor Plouffe to Begin Rehab Assignment

ROCHESTER, NY - Minnesota Twins infielder Trevor Plouffe will begin a rehab assignment with the Red Wings Saturday at Frontier Field. The former Red Wing is currently on the 15-Day Disabled List with a bruised right thumb. The Red Wings play host to Pawtucket (Red Sox) Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

Plouffe played four seasons with the Red Wings from 2008-11, appearing in 337 games and batting .262 with 46 homers and 181 RBI. He made his major league debut with the Twins in 2011 and has spent the entire 2012 season with the big league club. The 26-year-old is batting .259 with 19 homers and 38 RBI in 74 games with Minnesota this year.
