Minnesota Lynx Waive Stansbury and Mendeng

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx released forwards Tiffany Stansbury and Alvine Mendeng today. Minnesota's training camp roster now stands at 13 players overall.

Mendeng played all three preseason games with the Lynx, averaging 3.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. Stansbury played the final two preseason games for the Lynx and averaged 2.0 points and 2.5 assists.

Stansbury, a 2006 graduate of North Carolina State University, was originally signed by the Lynx as a free agent on May 25, 2007 after spending the 2006 season with the Los Angeles Sparks. Stansbury was then re-signed by the Lynx on May 2, 2008. Mendeng, a 2004 graduate of North Carolina State, was signed by the Lynx as a free agent at the start of training camp.

Stansbury averaged 4.3 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game in 30 contests with the Lynx, including 14 starts. For her career, Stansbury holds averages of 4.0 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game.

Stansbury was drafted by the Houston Comets in the third round (29th overall pick) in the 2006 WNBA Draft. Following her release in training camp, Stansbury signed with the Los Angeles Sparks in July 2006 and finished the season on their roster, averaging 1.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in four regular-season games.

The 6-foot-3 forward played her first two collegiate seasons at Gulf Coast Community College, where she averaged 12.8 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. She finished her college career at North Carolina State, where she averaged 11.5 points and 6.8 rebounds in her final two seasons.
