TUESDAY"S LYNX GAME

LYNX REGAIN WINNING WAYS

LYNX 91, LIBERTY 69

Seimone Augustus collected 21 points and nine assists as the Lynx stopped their five-game losing streak with a 91-69 triumph over New York on Tuesday night at Target Center. Augustus and Nicole Ohlde combined to score Minnesota's first 13 points, and Anna DeForge's three-point play triggered a 12-0 burst that propelled the Lynx to a 28-14 lead after one quarter. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Shameka Christon and Ashley Battle fueled a 9-2 first-half finish as the Liberty trimmed the deficit to 45-37, and Janel McCarville pulled New York to within six to begin the third quarter. However, Ohlde and Noelle Quinn responded to stretch the margin to 51-39, and Minnesota took a nine-point cushion into the fourth. The Liberty could get no closer after that, and after Tiffany Jackson's steal and layup with 5:10 remaining cut the deficit to 77-67, New York missed its final six attempts as the Lynx finished with a 14-2 flourish to record their first home win over the Liberty since 1999. Candice Wiggins netted 15 points and Ohlde had 14 for Minnesota, with DeForge chipping in 13. Christon's 20 points topped New York, while Battle added 17 and Loree Moore handed out seven assists.
