Milwaukee Admirals Weekly Update

Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Austin Watson...Rookie forward Austin Watson scored the Admirals long goal on Friday night against Oklahoma City and then added an assist on Saturday night as well, extending his scoring streak to six games, the longest on the team this season. The goal on Friday night was his third in as many nights as well, which is also a team best. The Ann Arbor, MI native is tied for third on the team with nine points on four goals and five assists and is tied for tops on the squad with a +4 rating.

Nashville's number one pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, Watson finished up a distinguished junior career last season with the London Knights, where he tallied over a point per game, 35 points (11g-24a) in just 29 games. He helped the Knights win the OHL Championship and advance to the final game of the Memorial Cup, where they dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to the Shawinigan Cataractes.

MIXING IT UP...The Admirals entered this past weekend as the least-penalized team in the AHL, but no longer hold that spot after a pair of spirited affairs with Oklahoma City over the weekend. On Friday night the Ads accumulated 29 penalty minutes in the 2-1 OT loss and then Saturday Milwaukee totaled 50 PIMs, which was over one-third of their total (148) after 12 games.

WECLOME BACK...Admirals forward Gabriel Bourque had a successful return to action Friday night, earning an assist on the Ads lone goal. Bourque had missed the previous four weeks with an injury he suffered in the Ads home-opener on October 19. The Rimouski, QE native played in the first two games this season, posting a goal and an assist. He was recalled by Nashville on December 27 last season and stayed there the rest of the year finishing with 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists in 43 contests. He also played in all 10 of the Preds playoff contests and tied for the third on the team in post-season scoring with four points (2g-2a).

TRANSACTIONS...With a spate of injuries over the weekend, the Admirals have recalled left-wing Josh Shalla from Cincinnati of the ECHL and signed forward Cam Reid to a professional try-out contract (PTO). Shalla played three games earlier in the season with the Admirals and has five goals and two assists in seven contests with the Cyclones. Reid has eight points (2g-6a) and a +7 rating in 11 games with Cincy and he also played one contest for Peoria.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN, STILL...The Admirals continue their season-long seven game road trip this week with four games, beginning Tuesday night in Chicago. The Ads head to Peoria on Friday, then go back to Chicago Saturday night before concluding the three-in-three in Grand Rapids on Sunday. So far on the swing Milwaukee is 1-1-1. The next home game will be on November 30 against the Wolves.
