Rochester Red Wings News Release

ROCHESTER, NY - Rochester Red Wings left-handed pitcher Tommy Milone has been named International League Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week, it was announced by the league office Monday.

Milone becomes the first Red Wings pitcher to earn the honor two straight weeks since Doug Linton in 1999. He's the first repeat winner of the Pitcher of the Week award in the league since Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Jonathan Albaladejo in 2010.

The left-handed hurler continues to dominate the league since he was optioned to Rochester on May 1. He ran his scoreless stretch to 31.2 innings this season and 37.2 dating back to his lone start with the Wings on August 5 last season. The 37.2 mark is the longest scoreless stretch by a pitcher in the IL since at least 2005, passing Dellin Betances' 36.2 with Scranton/WB in 2013. The 31.2 in a single season is also the longest by a Wing since at least 2005.

On Monday, Milone twirled a six-hit complete game shutout, the first of his career, while tying a career-high with 13 strikeouts against Durham. With an extra day of rest on Sunday in Norfolk, he did not allow a run for the first 8.1 innings before Christian Walker's solo home run.

In his four starts with Rochester this season, Milone is 4-0 with a 0.28 ERA (1 ER, 31.2 IP) while allowing 20 hits and two walks with 41 strikeouts. During his time with the Twins this April, he was 2-1 with a 4.76 ERA in four starts.

This is the third IL Pitcher of the Week award for the Southern California product who also earned the honor on July 4, 2011 while pitching for the Syracuse Chiefs.

Wings lefty Pat Dean was also honored as the IL Pitcher of the Week on April 20.
