Greenville Grrrowl News Release
GREENVILLE, SC â The East Coast Hockey League's 2002 Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl have announced the addition of David Miller as the new Director of Communications. Miller will handle public relations, media relations and play-by-play broadcasting duties for the Grrrowl and the Carolina Rhinos of af2, beginning with the upcoming 2002-03 hockey season. Miller brings an impressive list of credentials with him to the Grrrowl. He will begin his 12th year of professional hockey broadcasting, and will fit into a role that has seen the two predecessors advance into a higher level of professional hockey.
"We have had a great history with our hockey broadcasters, and David Miller is someone who will only enhance the success that we have experienced," said Carl Scheer, chairman and chief executive officer of the Grrrowl and ScheerSports, Inc. "This addition to our staff is a solid commitment to our very loyal fans. The experience that David brings to the airwaves is extraordinary at this level, and we feel that our success on the ice has given us the opportunity to recruit a top replacement as the Voice of the Grrrowl."
David Miller began his professional broadcasting at the AHL level with the Binghamton (NY) Rangers in 1991. After four seasons in Binghamton, the Buffalo Sabres hired David as Broadcast Producer and Host for all pre-game and post-game shows. Two years later, Miller returned to the broadcast booth as Director of Broadcasting for the IHL's Cleveland Lumberjacks, and handled radio and television broadcast duties for three seasons. Miller then returned to Buffalo, NY to host his own Sportstalk Show and assist with post-game radio analysis of the Buffalo Bills of the NFL, and the NHL's Buffalo Sabres.
On the move to Greenville, Miller stated, "ScheerSports, the Greenville Grrrowl and the Carolina Rhinos, have given me a wonderful career opportunity. I am very anxious to lend my experience and passion for sports to the fans of the upstate. To say I'm excited about the move to Greenville would be an understatement." 2002-03 Greenville Grrrowl season tickets, mini-plans and flex packs are on sale now.
