Cincinnati, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones today announced the signing of former Cincinnati Mighty Duck defenseman Ryan Gaucher (go-SHAY), who became the 12th player under contract for the 2002-03 regular season. The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan appeared in 50 games with the American Hockey League's Mighty Ducks last season, picking up 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists) and 16 penalty minutes. The fourth-year pro also skated in two games for Cincinnati during the 1999-00 AHL campaign going scoreless. Other stops in his professional career include the ECHL's Louisiana Ice Gators (1999-00), the Mississippi Sea Wolves (1999-00), and the Toledo Storm (2000-02). The 5'11", 210 lbs. defenseman played three seasons of major junior hockey with the Western Hockey League's Saskatoon Blades (1996-99). "When Ryan played in Toledo, the Storm had one of the league's best power play units," said Cyclones President/COO Pat Pylypuik. "He's got the skills to be one of the league's premiere defensemen and we know we can count on him to produce offensively." Cyclones Head Coach Malcolm Cameron echoed Pylypuik's enthusiasm. "He's extremely gifted offensively and works as an excellent quarterback on a power play," said Cameron. "Ryan's going to be among the league leaders for defensemen in points, and I look for a big year from him. He's relatively young, still has a tremendous upside to his potential, and brings a veteran quality about his level of play."
