Jackals Beef Up Defensive Corps, Re-Sign Guinn

The Elmira Jackals have brought back yet another key piece of their Eastern Conference Championship club from last season, announcing the re-signing of Rob Guinn for the 2002-03 Season.

The 6-1, 220 lb. blueliner returns for his third season in a Jackal uniform, having come to the Jackals as a free agent during the 2000-01 Season, then returning for his first full year with the club in 2001-02. Last season Guinn posted 8g, 33a for 41 pts. and 79 PIMs in 74 games with the club.

A key cog in the Jackals defensive wheel last year, bringing the Ottawa, Ontario native back was important for Jackals Head Coach Todd Brost.

"Power play defenseman are tough to come by," said Brost. "These type of players are always in high demand. I expect this year with his increased confidence he could be a top defenseman in this league."

Guinn now joins returning Jackals Jeremy Symington, Mike Thompson, Randy Murphy and Thomas Clayton, with newcomers Marco Emond and R.C. Lyke for the 2002-03 Season. The Jackals kick off the 2002-03 Season against the Missouri River Otters on Friday, October 11th at 7 pm at the Coach USA Center.
