Fort Worth Cats News Release

New Cat Ryan Miller, who signed with the team on Friday afternoon, helped the Fort Worth Cats to a win on Friday night over the McAllen Thunder.

The final score was 5-4.

The Cats (13-8) got out to an early lead when Miller, who started the game at shortstop and batted second, singled to right field, stole second, advanced to third on an Aljay Davis ground out and scored on a wild pitch.

The McAllen Thunder (9-12) jumped ahead in the third inning via shortstop Jorge Bishop's two-RBI double.

The Cats came back in the bottom half, however, scoring three runs on a sacrifice fly by Miller and a single by designated hitter Shelby Ford. The Cats stayed ahead for the duration of the game, adding a fifth run in the fifth inning.

The Thunder continued to chip away at the Cats' lead, scoring one run in the sixth and another in the eighth.

Starting pitcher Eric Sheridan threw 110 pitches on the night, allowing three runs on six hits. His exit after throwing 6.1 innings gave way to James Guilietti and Boomer Potts to shut down the Thunder in the final 2.2 innings.

Miller ended his first game with the team with one hit in two at-bats, one RBI and two runs. He was also hit by a pitch in the fifth inning.

The Cats will play games two and three of the five-game series as a scheduled doubleheader on Saturday at historic LaGrave Field. The first game will start at 6:05 and there will be a 30-minute break between the games.

Tickets to all home games can be purchased by going to FWCats.com or by calling (817) 332-CATS.
